Am I searching for truth? How to know?
A person in search of truth neither hates nor loves the world. The interest in the world is fading. The worldly transactions are kept only to the required level. One can say that such a person is searching for truth.
Does it mean one is cut off from Samsara and the worldly relationships?
Samsara is nothing but cause and effect. This is Karma. No one is spared from Karma. What you experience now as samsara are your past actions.
This makes me angry. What should I do?
A monkey clings to the tree. The tree is its native land. It doesn’t want to come down. People are clinging to objects and experiences as though they are native to them. If they are willing to come down from their native lands, anger will naturally come down.
Should one let go of work and other activities?
Not necessarily. Work can become worship. The search for truth should not be postponed. There is no end to work and activities. Human life is precious, and each moment fades away to the past. Who knows when death will arrive?
When does death arrive?
A hale and healthy person assumes that death is not for him, and it is for the other. Death can descend anytime like a coconut falling for the tree. Like a lion waiting for the gazelle, Yama the lord of death is waiting to ambush. Yama is behind from the time of birth, like a cat that is always behind a mouse.
Why aren’t people aware?
Ignorance. Animals live in total ignorance. Humans live in half ignorance. Many see only their ignorant half and not the other half. They are as good as animals.
How do the ignorant see life?
Life is all empty and disappointment for them. Like a thief going to steal from a home finds it empty and is disappointed.
What is the mind of the ignorant like?
Hallucinating about the future and lamenting the present.
Is hallucinating not imagining? What is wrong in imagining the future?
One cannot live in the future by ignoring the present. This is why I said that humans live in half ignorance and are animal like. Ignorant ones will be born among animals. The present is like a beautiful song, and the ignorant are unable to listen to the song being caught up with hallucination.
You said that death follows a person from birth like a cat that is always behind a mouse. When I look behind, I cannot see death. How to know?
A sunrise is always followed by sunset. You were a child once and childhood is no more. Youth has faded away replaced by middle age. Sickness can take over like a forest that has just caught fire consuming middle age. Very soon old age will take over. There will be a stage where the lamp cannot burn anymore since the oil has dried up. Each stage follows the other. Are the indications not enough?
I understand this is ignorance. Where lies the solution?
The ignorant are busy accumulating wealth and power. They are way too busy to enjoy wealth themselves, and eventually it is others who enjoy their wealth. This is the play of Maya constantly spinning illusions around them. Understanding this truth is the solution. This truth alone can help to escape this ignorance.
How do I approach this truth?
The illusions of Maya are like a magician distracting the audience. One should make a constant effort to move away from them. This is Sadhana. The mind is now ready to be turned towards this truth and ultimately dissolves in it. Happiness will be unveiled. This is the greatest wealth that was always there and never can be taken away. Any other wealth can be taken away for others to enjoy. There is no point in being a busy honeybee accumulating honey for others to enjoy. The ignorant should find this truth that has remained hidden in them always.
