Two monks and a lesson.

“What is the biggest fear”?

“Death”.

“Do you fear death?”

“I don’t cling to life. That is the difference”.

“Does that mean that all becomes empty? Does it mean emptiness?”

“This is the mystery. I am blind to the world. I have one thousand eyes. This is awareness”.

“Again, does it mean emptiness? How do I understand emptiness?”

“You have to train yourself to the extent of exhausting silence”.

“Is it transformation?”

“You are a little weed in the garden of the world. You will grow into a flowering tree”.

“Why only a few people flower?”

“Many are focused on clinging to riches and power. Their life is spent on harvesting wealth. They become rulers. They are better suited to harvesting cow dung, than realizing the potential of human birth”.

“You said potential. What is the potential?”

“A bird can fly naturally. It thinks one of its wings is cut off, and forever it believes it cannot fly. The frustration is burning like fire inside. This is anger. We see the world burning with this anger”.

“Is the world burning with anger?”

“You see people cold and stone-faced, using strength and intimidation they are waiting to spill blood”.

“Where are the people who want to grow into a flowering tree”?

“Yes, there are those who are worthy as a sliver coin. They are willing to enter emptiness. They will overcome the clinging”.

“Where do they begin”?

“They know the flowering tree will have branches and flowers. They begin with the root. Their heart and spirt will become gold. They make the sage”.
